DELTA AIRLINES TO STOP OVERBOOKING FLIGHTS: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The announcement that Delta Airlines would no longer overbook flights was made recently.
The move comes in the wake of the United Airlines scandal, which saw a passenger forcibly removed from an overbooked flight.
Ed Bastian, Delta's CEO, said the airline will employ technology to avoid overbooking.
Delta is the first major U.S. airline to announce that it will stop overbooking flights.
Overbooking is prevalent in the airline business, however if there aren't enough seats, travelers may be bumped.
The move made by Delta is expected to put pressure on other airlines to act in a similar manner.
